Barbara and Stephen Merritt, both CPAs at Stephen Merritt, CPA, P.C. are proud to announce their office mascot, Louis, was recently featured in the national publication, Journal of Accountancy‘s newsletter. Louis is a 4-year-old, 65-pound English bulldog with his own wardrobe and toy stash at the office. His mellow temperament, comedic nature and pouting face make him the favorite among the office staff.

More offices today are bringing their pets to work, and for good reason. Banfield Pet Hospital released a 2016 study that pet-friendly workplaces boost employee morale, can help reduce stress and provide a competitive edge while recruiting. When Journal of Accountancy planned to feature an article on pet-friendly CPA offices, they contacted the Virginia Beach accounting firm after seeing photos of Louis on Stephen Merritt’s website. Louis was one of ten pets featured. Way to go, Louie!
